The Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons License is one of the most widely recognized permits in the country. Idaho residents who obtain the E‑CWL can legally carry a concealed weapon in 39 states, and non‑residents in 37 states, based on current reciprocity agreements.
This in‑person certification course fulfills Idaho’s mandatory eight‑hour training requirement. The curriculum is designed to give participants a strong foundation in responsible firearm ownership and the legal considerations surrounding self‑protection.

What to Expect:
- Approximately 4–5 hours of classroom instruction
- 1‑hour presentation by Kootenai County DA Stanley Mortensen
- A live‑fire portion requiring 100 rounds with your own handgun
Class Location: Coeur d’Alene Rifle & Pistol Club
**Firearms should be unloaded (no ammo in magazines) and cleaned.
**You may bring any firearm you are comfortable with and for which you have 100 rounds of ammunition.
**Please leave all firearms unloaded and in your vehicle until we head to the shooting range.
Items to bring to the range include:
- Unloaded handgun: semi automatic pistol or revolver.
- 100 rounds of ammunition.
- Unloaded magazines (preferably 2).
- Ear and eye protection (prescription glasses/sunglasses are ok).
- Comfortable (range of motion) clothes and shoes.
- We will remain onsite all day. Please bring lunch and/or snacks and beverages.
- Please note: no firearm rentals or ammunition sales at the range.
